This year’s IPE theme is From field to plate come celebrate 150 years of agriculture in Canada. It is with great enthusiasm that Armstrong opens its doors to celebrate BC’s premiere agricultural tradition as our community has a rich history of celery and asparagus growing.
All ages will enjoy the competitions, interactive displays, the spectacular rodeo, and the down home charm of both the fair and our community.
An entire year goes into preparing for the annual IPE and it couldn’t be possible without the dedication of the volunteers, organizers, residents, businesses, and societies of all kinds.
There is no place like home when you live, work and play in the Heart of Country, Armstrong, BC. Come and experience "Pride of our Past, Spirit of our Present, and Vision of our Future."
Chris Pieper, Mayor
Welcome residents and visitors to the 118th annual IPE and Stampede. This is an exceptionally BIG year, as we are not only celebrating Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation, but the Township of Spallumcheen’s 125th Anniversary of Incorporation.
Inspired by our local Armstrong and Spallumcheen communities, this year’s IPE theme, "Field to Plate," truly encompasses what is important to the people who call this area home. Over half of the Township of Spallumcheen’s rural land base is located in the Agricultural Land Reserve and designated as farm land.
We hope you enjoy our residents’ proud displays highlighting the many agricultural operations our area has to offer including dairy, chicken, beef, pork and horticulture farming. We wish you much joy as you take in the excitement of the IPE, and hope that our beautiful farming landscapes and friendly local residents will inspire you to return in the future.
Janice Brown, Mayor
The year 2017 is a celebration across Canada of 150 years since the founding of our country. Within that celebration of our nation the Armstrong Fair celebrates 150 years of Canadian Agriculture with the theme “Field to Plate, Come Celebrate 150 Years of Agriculture in Canada
From the very early days of the southern interior cattle industry, through the celery fields of Spallumcheen, North Okanagan farmers and ranchers have been the backbone and strength of our communities. The residents of Armstrong, Spallumcheen and the surrounding areas, through support, dedication and hard work, have placed and kept the Armstrong Fair as the local flagship of our agricultural industry.
In the midst of our daily lives we often overlook and take for granted that which we have created in our own small community, a fair and exhibition which has stayed true to its agricultural roots and is known across our nation. Come and celebrate the history of our agriculture and the 150th birthday of Canada. There is fun and adventure for everyone from the grandparents to the grandchildren, from the rabbits to the rodeo, from the ride thrills to the food court. Share the magic, for as a community and as a nation, together we are great.
Ted Fitchett, IPE President
