Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine Top Ten Fairs and Exhibitions

Top Ten Fairs and Exhibitions Here are our picks for our Top Ten List! When it came to our judging criteria, we considered: family-friendliness; the variety of events and activities; whether it’s a multi-day show; free events; big-ticket and musical entertainment; and, of course, the role played by livestock. Do you have a particular favourite fair or exhibition? Please log onto our blog at www.cowboycountrymagazine.com and tell us why!

Interior Provincial Exhibition and Stampede (IPE), Armstrong, B.C.
Aug. 29 – Sept. 2

In 1909, if you entered your four best pigs in the Armstrong Fall Exhibition you stood to win $7.50 for first place. Today, those porkers will net you 10 bucks. Blame tradition and exhibitor pride. Nobody’s in it for the money. The IPE’s been doling out down-home fun for more than 110 years. It’s one of the few surviving authentic agricultural fairs across Canada, with a long history of local dedication. When times were tough and attendance dwindled, organizers refused to let their fair die. It became “The Little Fair That Could”. Today the IPE is one of the largest agricultural fairs in Canada....

President's Message
Our President, Jeanne Noble Harter
Welcome to the 114th Interior Provincial Exhibition and Stampede!!

It is with great pleasure that I extend on behalf of the Board of Directors, a hearty welcome to come and experience the excitement of the 114th Interior Provincial Exhibition and Stampede.

Where else can you do and see so much in just five days? We invite you to “our Fair”, one of the largest agricultural exhibitions in Western Canada. Bring the whole family. Have some fun, meet some friends, and get back to your agricultural roots while enjoying some premier entertainment, great food, midway rides, livestock, poultry and horse shows. You will find something for every age at the IPE.

Do you know where the food you are eating comes from? How and where it is grown? Or how often cows get milked? Find out by checking out our many exhibits in the barns, our show halls and in our commercial areas. We are proud to be able to showcase agriculture and agricultural education at its best!!

We are pleased once again this year to be hosting the Wrangler Tour Pro Rodeo. So grab your boots and hat and get ready for five action-packed evening performances under the lights at one of Canada’s highest rated pro rodeos.

I wish to extend a huge thank you to our Board of Directors, our many volunteers, IPE staff, our Sponsors, and the communities of Armstrong and Spallumcheen. The IPE would not be the huge success it is without your continued support.

This year “Haystack” is saluting the Fruit division. So come on down and “ENJOY THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOUR AT THE IPE”!! See you there!!

Jeanne Noble Harter
IPE President

General Manager's Message
Our General Manager, Bryan Burns
On behalf of the hard working and dedicated team that make the I.P.E. the premier agricultural fair in BC, please join us for the celebration of "the Fruits of our Labour in 2013!"

With our emphasis on our Fruit Division, make sure you take the time to visit all our divisions at the fair. The fair will continue to embrace the Family fun atmosphere, showcase our agricultural roots and provide new and exciting activities and programs to meet the needs of our guests.

Come and enjoy the exciting Wrangle Tour Finals Rodeo action, the music talent on the Dodge Main Stage, the variety of vendors plus you don't want to miss the exciting attractions in the Kids World. The many agricultural shows and displays are situated throughout the grounds as wll as the fun of the West Coast Amusements Midway.

Special thank you to all our staff, sponsors, partners, exhibitors, entertainers, suppliers, retailers, vendors and volunteers that ensure the traditions continue and that new memories are made when the fair comes to town.

Have a wonderful experience at the 114th Interior Provincial Exhibiltion and Stampede and than you for being part of this grand tradition.

Once again, I hope to see many of you at the fair and hope we will provide a lifetime of memories as you experience one of the unique agricultural exhibitions in the province. Enjoy the fair!
